Adding, Modifying & Removing Yeast

To start adding Yeasts click the Yeasts button located under the Ingredients heading

This will switch to the listing of Yeasts. To the right of the listing are the buttons you will use to Add, Remove, Modify as well as add any Yeasts that are not already contained in the SBC ingredient database.

Let’s start adding the Yeast ingredient for Our House Stout to the recipe by clicking on the Add button

The Yeasts database will now be shown and you can select from the listing as well as search the database for a specific ingredient rather than scrolling through the list.

The Yeast we want to add to Our House Stout is SafAle US-05 Dry Ale Yeast by Fermentis. You can search for this ingredient or scroll down the list until you locate it and then click on the ingredient.

This yeast comes in an 11.5 gram packet which is good for 5 gallons. Since our recipe is for a 1.32 gallon batch we will use about 1/3 of the packet or 3.83 grams. This is the only yeast we need for Our House Stout so after entering in the amount you can click on the Add Then Return To Recipe button. If you clicked on the Add To Recipe button you can simply click the Cancel button.

Back on the main Recipe Creator screen you will now see the yeast that you have added.

If you needed to remove a yeast you would click on that yeast and then click the Remove button. To modify an ingredient you would click on the ingredient and then the Modify button. You can click the Manual Addition Button to add a yeast that is not already in the SBC databases – this will be discussed in a different document
